Vesicare (Solifenacin)

Common use
Vesicare is used to treat symptoms of overactive bladder, including frequent urination, urgency, and urinary incontinence. Solifenacin, the active ingredient, works by relaxing the bladder muscles, reducing spasms and the need to urinate frequently.

Dosage and direction
Take Vesicare once daily, as prescribed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole, and do not crush or chew it. The dosage may be adjusted based on your response to the medication.

Precautions
Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, glaucoma, or a history of urinary retention. Caution is advised in elderly patients or those with other underlying conditions.

Contraindications
Do not use Vesicare if you are allergic to Solifenacin or any of its components. It is also contraindicated in individuals with urinary retention, severe gastrointestinal problems, or untreated narrow-angle glaucoma.

Possible side effect
Common side effects include dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, and dizziness. Serious side effects are rare but may include difficulty urinating, confusion, or signs of a serious allergic reaction.

Drug interaction
Solifenacin can interact with other medications, including certain antifungals, antibiotics, or drugs for heart conditions. Always inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements.

Missed dose
If you miss a dose of Vesicare, take it as soon as you remember unless it's close to the time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose—do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.

Overdose
Symptoms of an overdose may include extreme dry mouth, blurred vision, confusion, or difficulty urinating. Seek immediate medical help if overdose is suspected.

Storage
Store Vesicare at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep the medication in its original packaging and out of reach of children.
