Generic Telmisartan

Common use
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients at high risk. It helps relax blood vessels by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a chemical that narrows blood vessels and raises blood pressure. Telmisartan may also be used to treat heart failure or kidney problems in diabetic patients. Controlling blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney damage.

Dosage and direction
Telmisartan is usually taken once daily, with or without food, at the same time each day. The typical starting dose is 40 mg per day, which may be adjusted based on the patient’s response. Precautions

Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it’s almost time for the next one. Skip the missed dose if needed — never take a double dose. Try to take the medication at the same time each day to maintain stable blood levels. Missing doses may reduce the drug's effectiveness in controlling blood pressure.

Overdose
Overdose symptoms may include severe dizziness, fainting, or a significant drop in blood pressure. Seek emergency medical attention immediately. Supportive treatment, such as IV fluids or vasopressors, may be required. Always store the medication safely to prevent accidental overdose.

Storage
Store telmisartan at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep it in its original blister packaging until ready to use. Do not store in the bathroom or expose to excessive humidity. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
