Generic Losartan (Losartan potassium)

Common use
Cozaar is used to treat high blood pressure and to help protect the kidneys in patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension. It belongs to a class of drugs known as angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). Cozaar works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily. It also helps to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with heart disease.

Dosage and direction

Drug interaction
Cozaar may interact with diuretics, lithium, NSAIDs, and potassium-containing products. Combining it with other antihypertensives may increase the blood pressure-lowering effect. Tell your doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you use. Avoid alcohol, which can further lower your blood pressure.

Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up. Consistency is key for controlling blood pressure effectively.

Overdose
Overdose symptoms may include extreme dizziness, fainting, or a very slow heart rate. Seek emergency medical attention immediately if an overdose is suspected. Supportive treatment and monitoring of vital signs will be necessary. There is no specific antidote for losartan overdose.

Storage
Store Cozaar at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light. Keep the tablets in their original container. Do not store in the bathroom or near sources of humidity. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
