Avana (Avanafil)

Common use

Avana, or avanafil, is a powerful medication used to treat erectile dysfunction in men of all ages. It’s a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, marketed and sold under the brand name Avana in US.


Dosage and direction

Recommended dose of Avana is one 100 mg pill before planned sexual activity. Though, the dosage may vary depending on the individual indications. However, the minimum effective dose is recommended. Patients should not take Avana more often than once daily.


Precautions

You should consult your doctor before you use Avana to treat your erectile dysfunction problems. The underlying problems may be of another type, which makes use of Avana less effective than usually. You should consult your doctor examining your cardiovascular state and other medical conditions to prevent possible side effects of the drug and make treatment as effective as possible.


Contraindications

Avana (avanafil) shouldn’t be taken together with any kind of organic nitrates for the increased risk of hypotension. Nitrates can be taken not earlier than 12 hours after the use of Avana. Any kind of hypersensitivity to the drug makes administration of Avana impossible.



Possible side effect

Most common adverse effects of Avana include headache (5% of the users) and flushing (up to 4% of the users). Other side effects of the drug are nasal congestion, back pain and gastrointestinal issues. Most of those negative effects can be avoided by adjusting the dose to your individual needs by the medical specialist.



Drug interaction

Avana should not be taken with any organic nitrates, alcohol, alpha blockers or antihypertensives. The interaction can cause hypotension as a result of mixing those medications.



Missed dose

There is no negative therapeutic effect observed in patients who miss the dose of Avana. The drug is not addictive, and has single-time effect.



Overdose

Don’t overdose the medication! Overdose of Avana can cause its side effects to manifest at higher strength. You can feel dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue and other symptoms of overdoes. If you get flushes, headache or back pain, immediately contact medical care specialist for instructions.



Storage

Keep Avana in a dry dark place, out of reach of children, at a room temperature.
